Local businesses can sign up to compete with each other, to collect non-perishable food items. All donations will go directly to support families and individuals in San Juan County experiencing food insecurity. To join, email cmartinez@echoinc.org, Echo will coordinate with your business to drop off flyers and information and organize donation boxes. The winner will get a plaque honoring their support, as well as a special announcement on local radio. September is Hunger Action Month, bringing awareness to hunger and food insecurity in America, and highlighting ways people can help in their communities. Celebrate the end of summer with a free concert at the Aztec Museum and Pioneer Village, featuring local artists Jane Voss and Hoyle Osborne. The concert will take place at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 13th. The duo was previously honored with the Connie Gotsch Foundation's Legacy Award for their contributions to the arts in San Juan County. The Museum's concert series was made possible by the Connie Gotsch Arts Foundation and the Museum's 60th anniversary sponsors. This year's National Day of Service in partnership with the City of Farmington will be on Saturday, September 7th. There are several service programs available this year, Bird Park and Farmington Lake are both hosting trash cleanups from 9:00 AM to noon. Bring hats, work gloves, and sunscreen, trash bags and water will be provided. The Family Crisis Center Landscaping Project is also from 9:00 AM to noon, and will include final installation of landscape fabric and plants, spreading of gravel and final cobblestone placement. Volunteers are also needed for the Four Corners 9/11 Stair Climb at Ricketts Park from 5:45 to 9:00 PM. Sign up and find more information online.
