The 4th of July is just around the corner and if you're planning on celebrating with fireworks, Magee Park is the place to be. The Harvest Food Hub and Kitchen is offering weekly boxes of fresh produce and other offerings from local farms to spice up your summer meal times. And COVID vaccines for toddlers and children under five are now available in New Mexico. You're watching the local news roundup, brought to you by Distil Beer, Wine and Spirits and Boon's Family Thai BBQ. I'm Hayley Opsal. The Harvest Food Hub and Kitchen is open for the summer. To support local farmers, Harvest also has started a box subscription service. Six to nine fresh items will be in each box, available for pickup at six convenient locations around Farmington. Subscribers have four options to choose: A weekly farm box, bi-weekly farm box, purchasing boxes by the month and a special student farm box for San Juan College students. Boxes cost $25 apiece and discounts are available if you pay in full or for multiple boxes. To see more details or to sign up for one of the subscription services, visit harvestfoodhub.localfoodmarketplace.com or call 505-566-3964. The 4th of July is just around the corner and San Juan County Fire and Rescue encourages you to celebrate safely by igniting your personal fireworks at McGee Park to reduce fire danger. The approved fireworks area is in the North parking lot at the Southwest corner of County Road 550 and U.S. Highway 64. Spaces first come first served for use and alcohol is prohibited. San Juan County has several important reminders for anyone planning on setting off fireworks this year. Always light fireworks on paved or barren, flat ground, always read and follow label directions, always light fireworks outside, always have a readily available water source, always light one firework at a time, always dispose of fireworks properly, never relight fireworks that didn't ignite. Never let children handle fireworks, never throw fireworks, never shoot fireworks in metal or glass containers. For updates on fire restrictions and safety tips, search San Juan County Fire and Rescue on Facebook. Even though summer is in full swing and more and more activities are outside, COVID cases are still on the rise in New Mexico. A recent Johns Hopkins study of case counts ranks New Mexico fourth among states where COVID is spreading the fastest. San Juan County did see case numbers fall nine points, 2% during the weekend and June 18th. But that doesn't mean the case numbers won't start climbing again. New Mexico has received vaccines for children ages six months to five years with the recent FDA authorization of the Pfizer and Moderna Vaccines for children. Schedule an appointment at vaccinenm.org. That's it for this week's local news roundup. I'm Hayley Opsal.
