San Juan College and the University of New Mexico are partnering to offer a program for native entrepreneurs through the San Juan College Quality Center for Business. The Festival of Trees, a fundraiser for Presbyterian Medical Services, returns for its 20th year, and the Farmington Chamber of Commerce has opened applications for business and Citizen of the Year. You're watching the local news roundup brought to you by Pops Truck and RV, and Boom's Family Thai BBQ. I'm Hayley Opsahl. San Juan College, in partnership with the University of New Mexico, has received a $900,000 grant from the United States Department of the Interior Office of Indian Development for a program designed to assist native entrepreneurs. The grant is targeted at entrepreneurs from the Korea Apache, Navajo, Ute Mountain View and Southern Ute nations. The program will be run through the San Juan College Quality Center for Business, with the aim of assisting 60 native entrepreneurs over the next three years. Three cohorts of 20 people. If the program is successful, the grant will be extended for another three years and another $900,000. For more information about the program, email Janice Krishi at krishi@sanjuancollege.edu. Presbyterian Medical Services is bringing the festival trees back to the Farmington Civic Center to celebrate 20 years of festival of trees. All the proceeds from the event will go to support Presbyterian Medical Services work in San Juan County. The event runs from November 29th through December 4th, beginning with an outdoor tree lighting ceremony at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, November 29th, and finishing the raffle drawing on Sunday, December 4th, at 12:00 pm. Three events every day for everyone. So make sure to come and check out the beautiful trees. Buy tickets in advance and see the schedules of events at pmafestivaloftrees.org. The Farmington Chamber of Commerce has opened nominations for Business of the Year and Citizen of the Year. Nominate a person and or business you feel deserves the recognition by December 23rd. Winners will be announced during the January banquet. To request a nomination form or to submit one, email jamie@gofarmington.com. That's it for this week's local news roundup. I'm Hailey Upsall.
