The Farmington Chamber of Commerce is hosting a business to Business Expo Thursday, June 6th from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the Farmington Civic Center. The expo is free to the public. The Chamber is also conducting an after hours networking event from five to seven to network with live music, food, and door prizes. The San Juan County Adult Detention Center recently celebrated the opening of its Reentry Resource Center. The center is a result of a project proposed by the Leadership San Juan class of 2024, a program through San Juan College to provide information about services in the community and other resources available to reduce the risk of repeat offenses. Since detainees often receive their cell phones back upon their release with dead batteries, the leadership San Juan class worked to secure donations for a cell phone charging station, along with brochures for various services and a five minute video about next steps to watch while their phones are charging. The Reentry Resource Center project was proposed in October of '23 and had its ribbon cutting this month. The Farmington Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Young Professionals Network is seeking whole sponsors for its annual Golf Scramble Tees and Tunes. The event will take place on Friday, July 12th at the San Juan Country Club. The Colorado Department of Transportation would like to remind drivers that US Highway 550 will be closed to vehicles Saturday, May 25th between Purgatory Ski Resort and Silverton for the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes between 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM and reminded to watch for cyclists all weekend in Durango and the surrounding area as bicycle events will be taking place Friday through Sunday.
