During the construction of the Navajo Dam in the 1950s and 60s, 200 families across four Hispano towns were displaced and nearly lost to history. Farmington historian Patricia Bobby Tharp, spent two years researching and interviewing family members and descendants of those communities of Los Martinez, Los Pinos, Los Arboles, and Rosa. Culminating in the two-volume set, "The Lost Communities of Navajo Dam," chronicling the diaspora of the families and where they are now. Tharp and eight descendants of Los Martinez, Los Pinos, Los Arboles, and Rosa will participate in a panel at the Aztec Museum and Pioneer Village, Saturday September 21st as part of the museum's free Smithsonian Day. The panel takes place at 2:00 PM, but the free day long-event goes from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and will include kid-friendly craft activities, hustler printing press demonstrations, and more. The event is part of the museum's 60th anniversary celebrations. Is your TBR in need of refreshing after summer reading?
