In April, the Economic Development Administration, EDA, a part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, announced that San Juan County received a $1.6 million grant to invest in San Juan County Industrial Park to convert it from its focus on energy production companies to a variety of new projects. The Coal Communities Commitment is an effort by the EDA to support coal communities as they recover from the pandemic and to help create new jobs and opportunities both within at preexisting companies, as well as through the creation or expansion of a new energy sector.
