Make new memories and traditions with the whole family this Black Friday at the Aztec Museum and Pioneer Village. They'll close for the season. The museum will open for one day only with a special rate of $5 for the whole family. So bring 'em all. With winter weather settling in, both Farmington Municipal Schools and Aztec Municipal School District ask parents and guardians to re-familiarize themselves with inclement weather policies as both districts have updated the guidelines for the current school year. You're watching the Local News Roundup, brought to you by Three Rivers Brewery and The Big Idea Makerspace at San Juan College. I'm Connor Shreve. Looking for a new tradition this year during Black Friday? Aztec Museum and Pioneer Village is reopening the museum for one day only and invites you and the whole family for a special deal of $5 for the entire family. Although closed for the season, the museum will be open from 10 AM to 5 PM Friday, November 29th for a fun day out for the whole family, especially those out-of-town guests who might have missed the museum last year. If they're your kin, $5 gets everyone in. So come in to work up an appetite for those mashed potato and pumpkin pie leftovers. With the recent winter weather, Farmington Municipal Schools asked parents and guardians to review the inclement weather policy updated earlier this year. When FMS makes a decision to delay the start of the school day or cancel school, notifications will go out starting at 5 AM on its website, social media channel, and through calls, texts, and notifications on the FMS app. Announcements will also be posted to local media. New for the school year, in the event school buildings are closed, classes will be canceled, no remote learning. In the event of a two-hour delay, morning preschool sessions will be canceled, but afternoon preschool sessions will still be held. Two-hour delays will be called only if buses cannot run at their regular times. That means buses will pick students up two hours later than usual. On days school is canceled, all co-curricular, extracurricular and other district activities will be canceled unless the superintendent makes an exception. On a school closure day, no student meals will be served. But on a two-hour delay, they will be. The updated inclement weather policy is available online. Aztec Municipal School District have also updated its inclement weather policy. The district will not have school closures, but instead will do one of two options, depending on weather conditions. If road conditions are deemed unsafe in the morning, the school district will call a two-hour delay and reevaluate road and weather conditions by 7:30. If conditions have improved, school will be in person, starting at 10 AM, and if conditions have not improved, school will shift to remote learning, beginning at 10 AM. In the event road conditions are deemed unsafe, school sites will be closed and students and staff will shift to remote learning with the school day starting at 10 AM. All notifications relating to delays and/or remote learning days will go out as early at 5 AM to local media stations and on the Aztec Municipal School District website. On days after a heavy snowfall, personnel from the Transportation Department will visit various regions within the district's boundaries to observe conditions. The superintendent will make the final call. If schools are not closed, but you feel it is unsafe for your student to attend, please notify your student's school and the absence will be treated as an excused absence and your student will be able to make up missed work according to the school's makeup policy. Find further information about the inclement weather policy on the district's website. You can learn more about these and other stories online at FarmingtonLocal.News.
