The annual spring hazardous waste collection event for San Juan County will be Saturday, March 25th. San Juan College has been selected as one of the 10 community colleges across the nation to be a part of a cohort designed to reduce barriers to higher education for minority and low income college students. I'm Haley Upsell. San Juan County announced the annual spring hazardous waste collection event will be Saturday March 25th. Residents of Bloomfield, Kirkland, an unincorporated San Juan County are invited to bring household waste to the San Juan County Administration building from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Accepted items include used batteries, household cleaners, gardening chemicals, paints, and aerosols, among others. Make sure to bring proof of residency to the cleanup. Visit sjccounty.net for the full list of accepted waste materials and prohibited materials. Farmington residents can sign up for a at your door pickup of hazardous household waste through the Waste Management Program. Sign up online and receive a free kit with instructions on how to dispose of waste materials and waste management will pick up the full kit on a specified day. San Juan College announced its selection to be a part of the three year accelerating equitable outcomes cohort of achieving the dream. A network of 300 community colleges across the nation accelerating equitable outcomes offers comprehensive strategies to help students from low income and minority backgrounds achieve a post-secondary education, something San Juan College has already prioritized. As part of the cohort, two coaches will assist the institution addressing some of the issues achieving the dream highlights with plans to start implementing some of the strategies beginning with the fall 2023 semester. San Juan College applied for the program in December and learned in February it was one of the 10 community colleges in the nations selected for the program.
