Help shape the future of the McGee Park Fairgrounds, view Native American art at the Farmington Museum, and become a registered organ donor. You're watching the Local News Roundup, brought to you by Ace Hardware of Farmington and Three Rivers Brewery. I'm your host, Ryan Simonovich. San Juan County seeks community comments on the new master plan on the future of McGee Park. The plan will analyze existing facilities and look at how to increase activities at the fairgrounds. Share your ideas at a public meeting at 5:30 PM on April 24th in Room C at the McGee Park Multi-Use Building. The county says Any future changes to McGee Park are dependent on available funding. The Farmington Museum has a new exhibit titled Pictorial: Modern and Contemporary Native American Painting. The exhibit includes 16 Indigenous artists whose work span nearly a century. Guest curator Julie Napientek from the Gerald Peters Gallery in Santa Fe curated the Farmington Exhibit, which also includes posters from the Totah Festival held annually in Farmington. Museum admission is free and the exhibit is on display until October 5th. April is National Donate Life Month, and the San Juan Regional Medical Center has recently held an event on April 8th to raise awareness about the impact organ donorship can have on the lives of recipients. 23 patients at the hospital received organ donations from eight donors last year. About 100,000 people are waiting for a life-saving transplant and 127 transplants take place each day across the country. San Juan Regional encourages residents to learn more about becoming a donor at donatelifenm.org. To sign up as a donor, visit registerme.org.
