Farmington Municipal Schools are now offering free breakfast and lunch to all students. One of a couple different changes this school year. San Juan College's Center for Student Careers and Employment has a variety of off-campus paid internships available to gain valuable and relevant career experience. And San Juan Health Partners Family Medicine and Aztec are now offering walk-in appointments. You're watching the Local News Roundup, brought to you by Home 2 Suites and Ace Hardware in Farmington. I'm Hayley Opsal. With the school year just around the corner, Farmington Municipal School officials have released the 2023-2024 school schedule and changes for the new school year. San Juan College High School will begin Monday August 7th, kindergarten, sixth and ninth grade students will begin Thursday, August 10th and everyone else will begin Friday, August 11th. In accordance with new legislative requirements, Farmington Municipal Schools has increased instructional time with changes to the bus schedule. Elementary schools now end at 3:05 PM. Middle schools at 3:45 PM. Farmington High School and Pedro Vista High School now end at 3:15 PM and Rocinante High School and San Juan College High School will end at 3:00 PM. The full schedule with start times and an updated bus schedule are posted online. Also in accordance with the new legislature, all students will now receive free breakfast and lunch at all schools, and all middle school and elementary students will receive free school supplies for the 2023-2024 school year. Farmington Municipal Schools has created a back to school page with information about parent communications, registration and immunization information and schedule changes. San Juan College and the Center for Student Careers and Employment have a variety of paid internships available for eligible students. Work up to 20 hours a week in a relevant career field and gain experience towards your degree program. With assistance of the Center. San Juan Health Partners Family Medicine Aztec is now offering walk-in patient visits. The appointments are open to both established and non established patients. San Juan Health Partners is also offering walk-in sports physicals, perfect for back to school student athletes for school sports programs.
