Summer Heat is Never Far Away

Individual sales for performances go on sale beginning September 5th. Find the list of performances and schedule of events along with ticket prices online. Summer is here for a few more weeks. If it felt like July was hotter than average, you'd be right. The second half of July showed extremely hot temperatures, including an eight-day stretch between July 14th and 21st, where the Four Corners Regional Airport reached triple digits. Part of 14 days, that 100+ degree temperatures were recorded in July. The temperature highs are very unusual. Over the past 44 years, National Weather Service records show San Juan County averages only one 100+ degree days. 2023 marks the second consecutive abnormally hot summer. Last summer, there were at least eight days of 100+ temperature days. Unfortunately, monsoon conditions aren't expected until late August or September, which doesn't bode well for the moisture levels of the county. As of July 31st, the Four Corners Regional Airport has only recorded 3.96 inches of rain compared to the normal 7.5 inches as of July 25th. 86% of the county was categorized as abnormally dry, up from 63% the week before according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
